In 2010, I was working as an Area Manager for a large independent agency with 11 offices and over 50 staff. It was the role I’d aimed for since I was 18 – and I hated it.

The company just wasn’t the same anymore and I knew it could all be done so much better. I’d run many estate agency branches across East Anglia and thought I’d be in my element. Instead, I’d never felt further away from the job I loved: actually being an estate agent.

So, to everyone’s surprise, I left to start on my own. It was the scariest decision I’ve ever made – walking away from a six-figure salary to no income for the foreseeable future. But I’ve never looked back.

I joined Hockeys in 2011 as an Associate Partner, working in the villages to the north of Cambridge. With a lot of hard work and dedication, we grew our market share. In 2012, I took another leap and opened our Willingham office, where we have remained the market leader ever since.

In 2016, the directors of Hockeys wanted to step away from the business. I knew I would always regret missing the opportunity to run one of the most established and respected brands in the city. I took that step – and again, I’ve never looked back. My only regret is not doing it sooner.

We are looking for experienced agents with proven track records to join our company as Associate Partners.

This is an opportunity to work within the Hockeys model and brand, but with the autonomy, income and satisfaction of working for yourself.

What You Need

A proven track record as an estate agent
The ability to be self-sustaining for approximately six months
Drive, professionalism and a genuine passion for agency

Although the role is self-employed, only agents with a strong record of success will be offered an Associate Partnership.

Earning Potential

Earnings are ultimately down to the individual, but as a guide, after the first year an Associate Partner can typically expect to earn £75,000 – £125,000+ per annum.
