Location

Horningsea is a village just 4.5 miles (7.24 kilometres) from the centre of Cambridge and 13 miles (20.92 kilometres) south of Ely.

Village Information

Horningsea is a small and picturesque village lying next to the River Cam and is classified as a conservation area.  The village is popular for commuters, offering excellent access to the A14 and the north and east sides of Cambridge.  There is a regular train service at Waterbeach station providing convenient access into Cambridge and London. 

Local community events include an art group, parent and toddler group, and a horticultural society.

Primary schooling is available at Fen Ditton Primary School, rated 'Good' by Ofsted, with secondary schooling available at Bottisham Village College, approximately 6 miles (9.66 kilometres) from Horningsea to the east, which is rated ‘Outstanding’.

Pubs in Horningsea & Other Local Facilities

There are two pubs in the village, The Plough and Fleece which has a front room set for dining, a main bar with conservatory extension and a large beer garden with pleasant views over the River Cam. The pub features weekly live music a weekly pub quiz, Pétanque, a book club and a bridge night.  The second pub is the Crown and Punchbowl which was refurbished in 2016 and has a bar area and three separate dining areas.

Other local amenities include St Andrews church, a children's playground and a large garden centre with a cycle shop.
