Location

The midpoint of King's Hedges is in the region of Campkin Road, approximately 2.3 miles (3.7 kilometres) from Sidney Street, the centre of Cambridge.

Area Information

Development of the King's Hedges estate to the north-west of Campkin Road began in 1967, and by 1986 a total of 1570 households had been built on the 125-acre site, largely in blocks of three and four storeys, and reaching the city limits.

The estate was planned around cycling and walking routes which provide direct paths throughout the area, encouraging people to travel without cars within the estate. King's Hedges provides the best example of such a development in Cambridge. 

Arbury and Kings Hedges are served by the City One bus, which runs every 10 minutes to the city and beyond, and you can also pick up the guided bus from nearby Orchard Park or Histon Road with Cambridge North station giving rail access into Cambridge and London.

Facilties

There are three Doctors surgeries in proximity of the area and numerous open spaces and play areas, namely The Pulley and Nun's Way recreation grounds, Arbury Town Park and Cameron Rd Play area.

Nursery School consists of Colleges Nursery School, King's Hedges Primary Nursery School, Moon Beams, Bright Horizons and the Cambridge Science Park Day nursery and preschool.

Primary School's are King's Hedges primary school, St Laurence Catholic and The Grove primary schools with secondary schooling dependent on which catchment you live, so is either the Chesterton Community College or North Cambridge Academy. 

Further education is available at nearby Cambridge Regional College, and a special school nearby is the Mayfield Primary School.
