Linton is a village lying 8 miles (12.87 kilometres) south-east of Cambridge and 6 miles (9.66 kilometres) north-east of Saffron Walden, that has the River Granta running through it.
The village has a significant recreation ground which contains football and cricket pitches, an international size bowling green, children's play area, zip wire, and a hard surface area for playing ball sports.
Within the Village College, there is also a sports centre with tennis courts, an outdoor football pitch, and a children's party room. There is an infant, primary and secondary school within the village and the Granta School that teaches children with special needs.
Local facilities include a co-operative, veterinary, Indian restaurant, pharmacy, cake shop, jeweller, post office, newsagents, car garage and Chinese takeaway.
There are three public houses in the village, The Crown Inn, The Wagon & Horses and The Dog & Duck which is very scenic as it has the river running behind the back of the pub garden
On the southern edge of the village is Linton Zoo Conservation Park that is an intimate, family-run spot that allows visitors to get up close to hundreds of exotic creatures.
