Location

Chippenham is a sought after village approximately 5 miles from the historic horse racing town of Newmarket. There is excellent access to the A14 which interconnects to the M11 motorway to London and the A11 to the east. The market town of Bury St Edmunds is around 13 miles away and the university city of Cambridge is approximately 19 miles.  

For commuters Kennett, around 3 miles away has a railway station and there is a branch line connection from Newmarket to Cambridge and Ipswich. Cambridge and Whittlesford Parkway offer direct rail lines into London, with Cambridge North Station and the fastest trains taking under one hour. Stansted International Airport is approximately 50 minutes away.  

Village Information

Chippenham is a small village full of character and charm centred around Chippenham Park, a family run estate and prestigious wedding venue which also has garden open days and tea rooms. The village is also home to Chippenham Fen a 112 hectare National Nature Reserve and unlike the typical Cambridgeshire fens which are on flat land below sea level, Chippenham Fen is twelve metres above sea-level and surrounded by higher farmland.

Facilities

The village has a range of amenities including, St Peters Church, outstanding cricket facilities, tennis courts and a bowling green. There are allotments, children's play areas, village hall, as well as public house The Tharp Arms. Just outside the village is the favoured La Hogue Farm Shop and café. 

The nearby horseracing town of Newmarket provides a further range of amenities including schools, shops, supermarkets, hotels, restaurants, and leisure facilities including health clubs, a swimming pool and golf club. Renowned globally for thoroughbred horses and boasting two separate racetracks with quality horses competing throughout the season.

Ely, home to a world-famous 900-year-old Cathedral, lies on the River Great Ouse and offers another good range of shopping facilities within the centre including a market which takes place on both Thursdays and Saturdays. There are a number of sporting facilities such as an 18 hole golf course and leisure centre with indoor swimming pool/gymnasium.
