Location

The Abington's are a community in South Cambridgeshire consisting of two villages, Little Abington and Great Abington. They are situated only 7 miles (11.27 kilometres) south-east from the city of Cambridge and 8 miles (12.87 kilometres) north of Saffron Walden.

Village Information

Great Abington is slightly further south of the two villages and is right on the border between Cambridgeshire and Essex. Though often listed as a single village, Great and Little Abington have since early medieval times been two parishes divided by the River Granta.  Great Abington has a village hall, called The Abington Institute which has a café and holds regular film nights popular with residents.

Local clubs and societies include a nature watch, a walking group, allotment and leisure gardeners group and cricket clubs which have adult, junior and senior teams.

Great Abington has a preschool and primary school which is rated good by Ofsted with secondary schooling provided by Linton Village College, rated outstanding.

Facilities

Facilities between the villages include a shop and post office, hairdressers, petrol station, cafe, a hotel to the north of the village and numerous businesses located at Granta Park. 

The Three Tuns is a 16th century pub located across from the village green and includes a Thai restaurant with a takeaway service and nine en-suite bed and breakfast rooms.
