West Wickham is a small rural village 10 miles (16.09 kilometres) south-east of Cambridge which is just on the Suffolk/Cambridgeshire border, 11 miles (17.7 kilometres) south of Newmarket and 10 miles (16.09 kilometres) north-east of Saffron Walden.
West Wickham is a small and quaint rural village with a few basic facilities which include the recreation ground that houses the village hall which holds local events and operates as a post office once per week.
Children of primary school age attend the Meadow Primary School in Balsham with secondary schooling provided by Linton Village College, rated outstanding by Ofsted.
The village has a St Marys Church with other usual facilities including pubs and shops available in the nearby village of Balsham.
