Location

Market ward, which encompasses the city centre, contains eight colleges comprising Corpus Christi, Christ’s, Emmanuel, Downing, Peterhouse, Pembroke, Jesus, and Sidney Sussex.

Local Information

There are plenty of large open spaces in the market ward including Jesus Green which is one of the largest parks and includes BBQ areas, a giant pirate ship themed playground, skate park and public Lido located next to the river. Midsummer Common is renowned for it's grazing cows and also hosts travelling fairs, festival events and the fireworks display.

Parkers Piece is found in the centre of the city also hosts many events throughout the year including a town and country fair in the summer, Thai festival and Ice Rink at the Winter Wonderland. Lastly, Christ’s Pieces has a playground, free to use tennis courts and table tennis areas and separates the old part of the City and the Grafton Centre.

Facilities

There are numerous nurseries in the Market Ward with a Church of England Primary School on Park Street and Parkside community college located opposite Parkers Piece.

In addition, there are a number of highly regarded independent schools throughout Cambridge including The Perse School, The Leys School, St Mary's and St Faith's to name a few.

Hills Road, Long Road and Cambridge Regional College offer further education in addition to Anglia Ruskin University and the world renowned Cambridge University.
